2. Modem
(Modular and demodulator- For dialup connection), Cable Modem/Router – For
broadband connection, Network Hub (Switch)
It exchanges information between
your computer and the Internet.

A modem is a device that converts a computer’s
outgoing data to a format that can be transferred via telephone line. Modems
can also convert incoming data so the computer can read it.

A modem can be located inside or outside your
computer. Some of the different types of modems are internal, external,
voice/data, and fax modems.
3. Internet
Programs
You need special programs to use
the Internet. It directly comes with every Operating system. You can also add
other programs for your convenient. Most Service Providers give you the program
free for charge, if you need. Internet Explorer, Eudora, Netscape navigator,
firefox are the example of some Internet Programs.
4. Telephone
Line/Cable/DSL (Digital Subscriber Lines)
All of the information passes
through Telephone Line or Cable or DSL.
5. Internet
Service Provider (ISP)
Service Provider is an
Organization or Company, who provide Internet access with certain charge.
Internet Settings:
To set up
the dial-up network in My Computer (For Win’x OS)
(if not installed already):
1.
Click on Start button.
2.
Choose Setting
3.
Click on Control panel.
4.
Double click on Add/Remove button.
5.
Choose windows Setup folder.
6.
Put the tick mark on Communication option.
The “insert disk’ Message may
appear.
7.
If you are installing the program from a CD-ROM, please
insert the CD in the CD drive. If the set-up directory (i.e. backup of Win’x)
is already in the hard disk (Normally D: or E: drive), please provide the full
path name and press OK.
8.
Now the drive will install the program files and when
the installation is complete, Click on OK to restart the computer and up-date
the computer settings.
